The following are educational and supportive services provided by the Comprehensive Breast Service of the Community Cancer Center. For more information please call 309-451-8500.
ReNEW Nutrition, Exercise This program is an education and support class for breast cancer survivors. The class teaches the benefits of a low fat diet and exercise plan and how they reduce the risk of a breast cancer recurrence. The class is offered six times a year. It includes four weekly sessions and an optional monthly support group. Breast Cancer Support Group This is a professionally facilitated support group that meets monthly to address the issues and concerns women experience at various stages of breast cancer treatment and recovery. Reach to Recovery® This program provides information and support for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. Reach to Recovery® volunteers are breast cancer survivors who have been carefully selected and trained to visit or call patients after diagnosis. Look Good . . . Feel Better® Look Good ... Feel Better® is a single session class designed to help women undergoing cancer treatment learn more about appearance-related side effects of their treatment. Volunteer cosmetologists teach women how to enhance their appearance using make-up techniques. Lymphedema Clinic The goal of this clinic is to provide education & screening. Classes meet on the first & third Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m. For more information or to register, call (309) 451-8500. Community Education Educational programs relating to the latest research information on breast cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options are offered on an ongoing basis. |
